What I share here is what Really Matters to me. If these things are important to me, they may be important to you too. What Really Matters is information that you can use in everyday life. This week what really matters is Make Decisions To Set Yourself Up for Success!
We love having options, right? Chocolate or Vanilla? Comedy show or Concert? We face a number of choices each day. Research has shown that self control is limited to resources. Research has show that too many choices can deplete our stamina, focus and willpower. Our brain tends to shut down or go with the path of least resistance when we are overwhelmed with too many choices.
Keep that in mind when you are trying to establish a new habit. For example, I wanted to start exercising in the morning. But, I sleep hard! I find myself in a fog when waking up. I had to ask myself what would make it just a step easier to get my workout on?
What has worked for me is having my workout clothes next to the bed. I also put my shoes next to my workout clothes. Next, I wrote the next mornings workout plan on a piece of paper. It worked for years. Now, its a lifestyle habit! I am not flexing or bragging about me working out. What I found out is that this works for other things too The point here is that it can be hard to get started with new habits. It is about being able to work through to your get to the positive change you want in you life.
In your work and home what would it mean to work toward positive changes in your life?
I’d like to leave you with these thoughts:
At the end of the day, what really matters is not what we bought, it is what we built. Did you build a relationship today? it is not what we got, it is what we shared. Did you share today? It's not about competition, it is our character. Do you like how your character showed up today? It is not our success, it is our significance. How was this a significant day? Live a life that matters. Live a life of love. Chow for now!
